On Saturday, November 21, Allison Kerndt, Special Counsel in the Intellectual Property department, and Allison Wallace, Special Counsel in the Business Division, served as mentors in the Startup Weekend Ames 2015 event at the Iowa State University Gerdin Business Building.
Both attorneys were on hand to mentor the eight startup teams looking to move their entrepreneurial ideas to fully fledged businesses. The budding entrepreneurs came to Allison Wallace with questions on business formation, terms and conditions agreements, privacy policies and more about their new businesses. Allison Kerndt fielded questions about protecting intellectual property including trademark protection of company names and logos, patenting technology related to applications, and copyright considerations.
Three teams received awards at the end of the non-stop working weekend: Tillage, Settle In, and Drone Law.
More information about the winners and weekend can be found through the ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship.
